October 2024 Newsletter

Dear AWC Korea members and friends,

After what felt like a never-ending summer, I'm happy that a hint of fall is in the air. It's a great time to put on a cozy sweater, make a cup of tea, bake far too many muffins (my guilty pleasure) — and gather together with friends, new and old.

It's a beautiful time of year here in Seoul. For those of you who are new to the city, you're in for a treat: The changing leaves across the mountains are a breathtaking sight to behold.

Our 2024-25 AWC Korea year is buzzing along, with a number of great events planned for October. One highlight for me is our annual Breast Cancer Walk, taking place Friday, Oct. 18. As a breast cancer survivor myself, I see Breast Cancer Awareness Month as an important time for both self-care and for taking care of our sisters, a reminder to each of us to check in with our bodies.

The breast cancer event will include a scenic walk up Namsan and a celebratory dinner afterward at our partner restaurant, Brera. You can sign up to participate in the walk, dinner or both, or to simply make a donation. (Please see sign-up details below!)

This month’s newsletter includes several other important announcements:

  • Save the date! Our annual charity gala will take place Feb. 7, 2025

  • We’re looking for volunteers!

  • Last but not least: Don’t forget to renew! If your membership expired on Aug. 31, please renew ASAP to continue being a part of our 2024-2025 events and communications.

I look forward to seeing you at our events throughout the month.

Sincerely,

Betty Chung
