Dear AWC family,
The spring of 2024 has brought many blessings so far, including glimpses of Seoul’s cherry trees, pleasant temperatures and joyous AWC gatherings. We at AWC Korea were thrilled in April to host some new activities and to welcome three new partner businesses. (See details below.)
I’ve been ramping up for the past few months in my own new beginning as Academic Director of the Global MBA Program at Korea University Business School. The students have been such an inspiration! Today, we were pleased to have AWC's first May event, a conversation with European Union Ambassador Maria Castillo Fernandez on the geo-economics of EU-RoK relations, at KU. (Check our social accounts for a recap soon.)
Also in recent weeks, KU Global MBA students and AWC members and friends have begun to connect as part of the mentorship program we kicked off at our joint International Women’s Day event in March.
The month of May has numerous holidays in Korea, this year including:
May 1 — Labor Day
May 5 — Children’s Day
May 8 — Parents’ Day
May 15 — Buddha's Birthday
As spring turns toward summer each year in Seoul, our AWC Korea community inevitably faces a bittersweet moment of transition: Saying “bye for now” to valued and cherished members, as expat moves frequently happen in summer — and bringing on new board and committee members to help power AWC through its next programming year.
We’ll share our thanks to departing members in the next newsletter. In the meantime, if you’re interested in helping us create fun events and opportunities, see details below about joining AWC's Events Committee.
I wish all of you the continued joys of spring, and I look forward to seeing you at an event soon!
Kind regards,
Betty Chung
AWC Korea President
